Blogs Gone Bad:

The Darker Side of Blogging

BaD BloG! BaaaaD BloG!! Sit!! ...

" ... And in an age where everyone can try their hand at journalism and where private diaries are published for the world to see, it is also the case that every aspect of life can be put under the spotlight, often in ways that are deforming, perverse, and downright stupid."

One of those things that makes you say:
"I wish I woulda thoughta that!" ... a funny blog.

zefrank.com (Home of "The Show," b. 2006 - d. March 17th, 2007)

... as you jump from personal-note-from-the-blogger-to-you-the-reader #1 and straight to personal-note-from-the-blogger-to-you-the-reader #5, be careful not to miss the brilliant "who says I have to?" decision to put #3 before #2:

"5. this is the space where you imagine beautiful things. each time you come here, try to imagine new shapes and colors. then tell all of your friends about how beautiful this part of the page is."

(I see something there; different each time. Don't you?)

This was only the beginning ... go have a look see. Ze's "The Show" is said to be "gone." The end of an era? If the horrendous announcement is true - most definitely ... but there is always the likes of Andrea Harner who scribbles and posts photos/videos on a blog that smacks of the same "huh?" style. My guess is that she could go extremely viral any day now (she hangs out with a few of the right people!).

Maybe nobody else thinks these sites are as stupendously cool as I do ... maybe it's just that I've been living in foreign countries waaaaaaaaaaay too long and all of the people back in the U.S. of A. have all gone crackers and it's only ME who thinks that these people are all artistic and literary geniuses ... but I suppose we'll have to wait and see in a few months ...

A Good Blog ... From the Sea!

John Heald maintains his blog while "deployed"

Anita Dunham-Potter writes:
Everybody loves John
Heald was popular long before he became a cyber-celebrity. He joined Carnival in 1986 as a bartender and, after transferring to the entertainment department, was named a social host three years later. Within a year, he'd been promoted to cruise director, and in 2004 he was named "Senior Cruise Director" in the Carnival fleet -- the only person in the company to carry that title. Among Heald's duties is launching each of Carnival's new ships; Freedom is his ninth."

As I was saying ... we're not saying ...

HOOAH! Like we said ... horse hockey! NOTHING'S DIFFERENT!!!

We respect every Soldier’s First Amendment rights, while also adhering to Operations Security, known as OPSEC, considerations to ensure their safety on the battlefield. That said, we feel the need to clarify a few points made in the May 2 story titled, “Army Squeezes Soldier Blogs, Maybe to Death.”

The story stated Soldiers could not post blogs or send personal e-mail messages without first clearing the content with a superior officer. Simply put, personal e-mails don’t need approval by a superior officer prior to sending since they are private communication. Only an e-mail containing sensitive information that is later posted in a public forum would be of concern.

In addition, it is not the regulation’s intent for every blog entry to be approved by an immediate supervisor and operations security officer, but Army personnel do need to consult with an immediate supervisor and OPSEC officer when initially establishing their blogs so they are aware of OPSEC concerns.

It also mentioned, "Even soldiers' families -- are all subject to the directive as well." To be clear, commanders cannot order Family Members to practice OPSEC. The intent is to ensure Family Members are aware of OPSEC to help safeguard critical and sensitive information. This helps to ensure Soldiers’ safety, technologies and current and future operations are not compromised.

Soldiers, Civilians, contractors and Family Members all play crucial roles to protect critical and sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands. At stake is not a Soldier’s First Amendment rights, but rather his or her life as well as the lives of fellow Soldiers. I’m confident many Americans, if not all Americans, can understand that sentiment.

BLOGS VIOLATE PRIVACY?

NEWSFLASH: If you do stuff around other people, especially dangerous stuff that could hurt other people it's not "private."

For example, if you're a teacher and you go to work drunk and trip over an Honor Society student, people can and will talk about you, whether you like it or not. KOLO-TV story on Nevada blogger who wrote about a local teacher.

Would it be any different were the blogger to sit at a table and verbally tell anyone who'd listen about it in the local mom 'n' pop 'Yummee's Ice Cream Shop?' It seems to me that, with his personal (keyword = personal) blog, he's just able to reach more people without having to literally talk so much and getting on people's nerves.

Can you imagine trying to have a peaceful moment at Yummee's and, thanks to blabbermouth blogger guy, you have to endure listening to 237 customers all talking about the local high school teacher coming to work drunk and setting the Chem. lab on fire over 15 minutes during which you were only trying to enjoy your rootbeer float?

Maybe this all has to do with the fact that the blogger guy is a local school board trustee? Nah ... the superintendent thinks he's violating teacher rights and privacy ... hmmmm ... I'm sure Susie's parents would agree with that, especially as they're sitting by their daughter's hospital bed because she had her legs broken as the drunk drama teacher guy backed over her with his Volvo in the school parking lot while he was trying to park and take a nap until 3rd period.

Nope, let's protect that drunk teacher guy. Let's protect the drunk teacher guy's rights and make sure he feels all warm, snuggly and comfortable (because he's obviously got a problema and we should help him to feel better). But dammit, let's publicly crucify the guy who writes about him on his blog and violates his rights!! String that bastard up for his brazen warning to other parents of high school students that one of the local teachers has a penchant for coming to work and using his Biology students for personal breathalyzers ... I guess maybe I have one final thought: Is the teacher who is entrusted with the moral and scholastic education of my child violating my child's rights to that same education by coming to work drunk and doing less than their sober best? Or is education a privilege in America rather than a right? (Hey! Psssst ... Hey! Quick: before the English teacher looks at it, did I spell "snuggly" right?!)

Senator Clinton (D-NY) has BREASTS?!

sophia.jpghillarycleavage.jpg

While Hillary is no Sophia, according to Lynn Sweet's (from the Chicago Sun Times) blog entry on the recent Washington Post article about CLINTON CLEAVAGE (by Robin Givhans) is taking the country (well, certain parts of it, anyway) by storm.

Sweet doesn't really have an opinion about Hillary's breasts, she's merely commenting on the commentary by Givhans, normally a fashion-type, but this time w/some interesting insight on the power of boobs. In my opinion, though Hillary's no Sophia, breastesses are breastesses and only wimmen has ém. As they (?) say, "If ya got 'em, flaunt 'em." Good on ya, Mrs. Clinton. Wouldn't you love to know if somebody "suggested" the idea (as in: now the husband is giving the wife advice?) or if they're -- er, sorry, IT'S, if IT's really "no big thing" and she just threw something on. Nah ... this was an attempt to see if, by showing us her boobs, if she could finally get her pictures here on BlogDISS or get to the top of GOOGLE or TECHNORATI, etc. That's probably it ... probably here more than those other two wannabe sites ... yeah. My bet is that the good Senator will start showing us all more of her softer, more womanly side(s) since we've all gotten to know just about everything else BUT ... besides, you may not think that the Hillary you know NOW would show much cleavage ... but what about this one:

Prison life in the Philippines is 'Thrilling!!'

I haven't seen this Filipino Prisoner 'Thriller' remake on anybody's blog yet ... but I bet it will make it out there soon!! It's been on YouTube! for a while, apparently ... but my semi-regular browse this morning through the flamingly-grocery-store-tabloid-style-U.K.-site of Britain's DAILY MAIL first brought it to my attention. CLINTON CLEAVAGE, Part II

hillarycleavageII.jpg

You can't say I didn't warn you! First, Hillary's cleavage. And now: a demonstration (the first of many?) by "BREASTS not BOMBS" (What? That's not their official website you say? That's just a plot to collect pictures? Okay ... then here's their official breast BLOG!) with cameo appearances by members of "Code Pink" in San Francisco ...... nice thought, really. Breasts instead of bombs. Hmm, imagine if, instead of bombs, we carpet-bombed Iraq and Afghanistan with boobies! The terrorists and extremists would be so busy smiling they'd forget about being so grumpy and mean and nasty.

Here's some photo-coverage of the UNcoverage-protest that was oh-so-stealthily carried out at a recent (July 23rd) Hillary Clinton Campaign Launch Party.

Alas, the event was a bust, even though the girls are giving their breasts -- er, I mean doing their br -- um, BEST to keep us all abreast of the dangers of bullets, bombs and missiles.

Surprisingly, the photos and video seem to indicate there is not a significant male membership, to speak of, in either group. I suppose, now that I think about it ... all those guys would probably form the group "Members not Missiles" Though they'd probably all end up looking like a bunch of silly boobs, anyway.

I say "YOU GO, GIRLS!" How many public (and televised, hopefully!) gatherings of Clinton-supporters can be infiltrated?! They could, however, use a better recruiting campaign if they plan to continue this effort ... they might get more exposure.

I feel so much better when I get things like this off my chest and expressively bare my ... oh, nevermind.

So I can feel like I left you with something other than a few bad puns, here's BNB's Chief SOB's description of the group:

"Breasts Not Bombs is a grassroots movement originating from Mendocino County, CA. We are dedicated to empowering women to speak out for a world that remembers what is sacred and honors the mother. Using political street theater and the act of baring our breasts in public serves as an excellant forum to speak about the vulnerability of humanity and the earth." And you can GOOGLE the other one yourself!! :o)

Scary Spice from "Spice Girls" or
"Scary Blogger" from Blogger Girls?!

Ya know ... I usually like to find some sort of photo or graphic to go with a post. But you're just going to have to LOOK at this one. I mean, really ... wow. What's worse: the celebrity's leg, or this blogger's face?

So too much on the web today, so here’s linkage to most of it:

Me

Lots of blogs and sites and links caught my attention today, so I decided to just list all of it, rather than pick and choose and blah, blah, blah ... see what I have to go through whenever I sit down in front of this keyboard? I'm not looking to make six figures with this blog, it's just a place to keep track of all this stuff! Anyway, whatever ...

Women only. One of many, apparently, but to be fair (and lazy?) this is the first one I found.

"The Sun" online. I go here a lot.

"Andrea Harner, owns the first blog I ever saw maybe two years or so ago (I was surfing for a picture of a dog) now has a few other sites/blogs, including "Modern Pooch""

For example, have you ever been faced with such a difficult decision as:
"Prince or Michael Jackson: Who's the real King of Pop?" Apparently, the people in England don't understand something about Michael Jackson, I think ...

Here's another U.K. "bloid" I go to, "The Mirror." (I hereby claim credit for coining the term "Bloid!")

Two cool houses for sale. I like the 2nd one.

Cool coffee mugs (Two sizes available; nice price. They need to make 'custom' mugs available).

Andrea Harner, owns the first blog I ever saw maybe two years or so ago (I was surfing for a picture of a dog) now has a few other sites/blogs, including "Modern Pooch" which is for, well ... dogs.

Also in "The Sun," Sir Elton John apparently thinks the Internet should be shut down for oh ... maybe five years, he says.

As reported in "The Huffington Post," the collapse of the I-35 bridge in Minneapolis is serving as an event for the various media outlets to practice their grassroots reporters (that's you and your camera-enabled cellphone, etc.). MY question: How long until this picture gets updated?

They're starting to worry about George Clooney I've decided that, when this guy is "old," I'll be old too. But don't tell him, I don't think he could take the pressure.

Some will remember the Yankees shortstop, announcer ...

I will remember him for this:

"Okay here we go! We got a real pressure cooker going here, two down, nobody on,no score, bottom of the ninth ...

There's the windup, and there it is,a line shot up the middle, look at him go! This boy can really fly!

He's rounding first and really turning it on now,he's not letting up at all, he's gonna try for second;the ball is bobbled out in center, and here comes the throw, and what a throw!

He's gonna slide in head first, here he comes, he's out! No. Wait. Safe. Safe at second base. "Holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!"

This kid really makes things happen out there.

Batter steps up to the plate here's the pitch,he's going, and what a jump he's got,he's trying for third, here's the throw, its in the dirt, safe at third!

Holy cow, stolen base! He's taking a pretty big lead out there, almost daring him to try and pick him off.

The pitcher glances over, winds up, and it's bunted, bunted down the third base line, the suicide squeeze is on!

Here he comes, squeeze play,it's gonna be close, here's the throw, here's the play at the plate,

"Holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!"

Yup, that's Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto's portion of the classic 1977 song by Meat Loaf, "Paradise By The Dashboard Light."

As the story goes, Rizzuto claimed he did not know his part would be used to refer to sex, but Meat Loaf claims he knew exactly how they were going to use it. Rizzuto tried to distance himself from the song when he got angry letters from some Yankee fans with conservative values. Meat Loaf asked him to tour with him, but Rizzuto turned him down.

Other blogs and sites remembering Scooter Rizzuto:

George is a turkey — er, IN Turkey ... no, no — running for President? Of Turkey?

(Is it just me?)

· · · · ·

The dude on the bottom is (supposedly) Abdullah Gul, Turkey's current Foreign Minister and the odds-on favorite to be the next president of that country. Maybe the rumors are true? George has found his "way out" and is moving to Turkey? You'll see! Just like my prediction that Michael and Janet Jackson are really the same person ... You'll see!! So, who wants to make a bet on when will be the first comment made on the resemblance by George ... on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno?
